First Gay NBA Player Jason Collins

Current NBA player Jason Collins came out of the closet on Monday. Although there's a good chance he will be former NBA player Jason Collins in the near future, I still commend him for forcing the country to confront what the next step up the ladder towards homosexual acceptance will look like. (He may never play another game in the NBA because the last couple seasons he averaged more turnovers than points or rebounds; so this is more of an assist for a more "important" player to come out).

Overrated: Carmelo Anthony

Carmelo Anthony is playing the best basketball of his career and the Knicks are the hottest team in the NBA. That being said; This a perfect time to blog about him being overrated. Unlike most lame sports “analyst”, I’d rather not just say someone is "clutch" when they win and "can’t close" when they lose.I could have posted this when the Knicks stunk in the playoffs last year but I prefer to go after players when they have the opportunity to prove me wrong.

But this never happens. When I write about overrated players it isn’t because I want them to be. It is just an undeniable truth.

Does the British system work better than ours?

Two weeks ago Britain’s parliament voted in favor of legalizing gay marriage. While this particular law has no real effect in America there are a couple glaring differences that must be noted:

1. British Conservatives voted 127 in favor to 136 against.
2. No Conservatives used the argument that if gay people are allowed to marry then who’s to stop people from marrying their pets.

The fact that you have heard the second point used as an argument in America goes to show how many stupid people reside in our country. That being said I want to focus more on the first point. Mainly that conservatives actually did their job and didn't just vote exactly the same as their cohorts.

Side Note: I know nothing of British Parliament. While these results make me think that they are leaps and bounds ahead of the American democratic process, they still have a long way to go when it comes to food and dentistry.

That might seem like a long time to you youngsters, but that's nothing for those of us that were around when the Niners first joined the NFL, ironically in 1949. Massacre in Connecticut

Edit: If you are going to criticize anything I've said. I ask you to please read the whole post first.

Last night I was getting ready for the Niners game when there was a moment of silence for the massacre in Newtown.  I took this as my cue to hit the restroom right before kickoff. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for moments of silence so this part isn't really my complaint.

Quick Digression: I hate during moments of silence when someone decides to cough about 5 seconds into it. I want yell at them, “what the hell is your problem, you couldn't not make any noise for 10 seconds?”, except I know people would then get pissed at me.

But I digress back. What I really want to talk about is how I was pumped to watch the biggest game of year and after 3 minutes of football NBC cut away to the President’s Second speech. Not only did I miss a good 15 minutes of the game but I was forced to sit in a silent bar and listen to a socialist wax poetically about tragedy and the communal good. All I wanted to do was stand up and shout, “change it back to the freaking game”. Is that wrong?

Republicans and Women

I was looking over the statistics on voting based on demographics and was kind of shocked to see the gender disparity.

Take a look at these numbers:

Romney got more of the Male vote by 8%.
Obama got more of the Female vote by 12%.

For those of you who aren't good at math that is a 20 point difference. Which is the largest in history. Meanwhile all the talk has been about minorities.

Why Obama was the best choice, Again

Overrated: Derrick Rose

This is a situation I'm sure you come across often. It's when you're sharing appetizers in a restaurant and you get down to the last piece. Occupy Movement

The Occupy movement has given people a medium to go out and blame the "Man" for anything and everything. This is obviously a good thing. When your life goes into the crapper it feels better when you have someone to blame. The problem is that after several months of protesting and finger pointing people usually stop caring and the Occupy movement likely will just become Occupy. I know this because it has been going on in Berkeley for almost 4 decades in a place called People's Park. Even though it is kind of cool to have a designated area in the heart of the city for the homeless; you are likely to contract an STD during your daily stroll through the park. If you're lucky you will just be harassed for not being a hippie by a former protester/hippie turned destitute/demented person. Either way I'm not sure every major city in America is ready for their own Peoples Park.

Halloween and Pirates!

With Halloween just around the corner I want to talk about my favorite costume when I was a wee lad. It seemed cool because I got to carry a sword, wear raggedy clothes, and only had to use one eye. However, kids should not be allowed to dress like Pirates.

My parents were not responsible for dressing me like a pirate. It was my choice. I was well aware of the ramifications. However I do not take responsibility for Skeletor, Batman, the Lion, nor the Pumpkin.
